LIMA.

For those that know me well, you know that there are few things I love more than being outside in the sun. Something I didn’t really anticipate coming here during Lima’s winter is the consistent gray, overcast skies. Seasonal affective disorder, some may call it, when one’s mood is positively correlated with the temperature and hours of sunlight.

Last Sunday morning, however, I woke up and the white washed houses behind me were tinted pink with the sunrise. Sunrise? There’s never a sunri–

And then I realized.

Giddy with Christmas-morning glee, I made a GTD (game time decision for all you NARPS…Non Athletic Regular Persons for all you n00bs.)  grabbed my running shoes, bus fare, and keys, sprinted out to the door, and went for a long run down el Malecon, the path that runs along the stretch cliffs running the Lima coastline. T’was glorious. The water, usually gray, mirroring the sky, was crystal blue, with more surfers in the water than usual, freckling the glassy, smooth rolling breaks.

The rest of the day was spent riding around Lima in , with a camera crew, shooting for an upcoming promo. We packed 10 people, 4 DSLRS, 3 tripods, and an entire knitting machine into Hank, Krochet Kids’ Volkswagen Van, and set off shooting scenic as well as conceptual (note the extraneous settings we set Fiorela and Ericka up to knit…Parque Barranco, a very public square, on top of Pacifico, and a barren plateau covered in trash).

It was a good day.
